Registered Nurse (Migrant Health) -Bilingual Spanish Preferred- 7.0 hours/day @ Othello High School (Primary Work Location)

Job Description

• Provides direct nursing care for health and illness needs of individuals during the school day in adherence to Washington State Schools policies and procedures.
• Maintains records of services provided to students following appropriate confidentiality guidelines.
• Review health room procedures.
• Provide support to Nurse Assistants.
• Follow-up on processing home and hospital forms.
• Assist with school screenings.
• Review and maintain student record files for high-risk medical care needs.
• Development and distribution of emergency care plans.
• Delegate selected functions as allowed by state laws, including but not limited to: oral medications, emergency medications and certain medical procedures.
• Follow-up on needed medical concerns identified during registration and as needed.
• Assist with infectious concerns, immunizations and other health concerns.
• Serve as a liaison between school, home and medical personnel.
• Attend Parent Advisory Council (PAC) meetings to educate parents on health and current or future disease outbreaks.
• Some evenings are required to educate parents and the community on public health outbreaks or general health education.
• Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School graduate, or GED.
• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Active Washington State Registered Nurse License.
• Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with children and adults, good time manager, initiative.
• Current First Aid/CPR card (must keep current and up to date)
• Experience in pediatrics and/or public health nursing (Preferred)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
• Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements.
• Ability to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more.

Contracted Days: 201 work days & 8 holidays (209 total contracted days)
